This time next week we will be here. A large portion of me lives for summer beach trips. Eight whole days of doing absolutely nothing but swimming and laying on the beach!!! I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW EXCITED IT MAKES ME!!
Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a marvelous weekend and Father's Day. :)
My weekend was ruled by a very demanding to-do list. We FINALLY finished the programs after slaving over them for two weeks straight. In the future I might think twice before deciding to turn something that could be as simple as a folded piece of paper into a major craft project. But they turned out pretty good! We even rewarded ourselves with some pool time (while doing our homework from the minister, of course). After that I got out my sewing machine and tackled the table squares. We also ran about 45 million errands and attempted to finalize the play list. It was a wild weekend but well worth it because now the only big thing remaining on my list is packing! Tomorrow after work I'm heading to Abilene and the fun can begin!!!
Only a little over a week to go! We took the day off yesterday and headed to Abilene to get the marriage license. According to Taylor County, we could get married today if we wanted to. Sure would save us a lot of effort so it's tempting! But, I would hate to waste the hundreds of hours spent trying to make sure the big wedding goes smoothly. So we will wait it out. I can't believe it's so soon. SO MUCH TO DO!!!
Lunch time again. For the past couple of months I have been eating the exact same thing every day for lunch. It amazes me that I can sometimes find a go-to meal that I can eat over and over again without getting sick of it. Some may say that makes me a boring person, but at least I don't have to worry about what I'm going to eat every day.
This past weekend we made a quick trip to Austin and it turned out to be a much-needed mini vacay. We got a few things accomplished on Saturday morning and by late afternoon we found ourselves a little unsure as to what to do next. Don't get me wrong, I think Austin is a great place. I just haven't spent enough time there to really know what fun things there are to do. So what did we do? Made a whim decision to drive to San Antonio for the rest of the weekend. Most sporadic decision I have ever made!!! (Okay, maybe not the MOST sporadic... but I am not typically a person who changes my plans on a whim.) Needless to say, I was rather proud of myself. It was honestly an easy decision because San Antonio is my favorite city in Texas. Always has been. Once we arrived in San Antonio we headed straight for the River Walk. A no-brainer.
And, of course we ate dinner right next to the river at Casa Rio!
We went shopping at the mall and walked all over the place, ending the evening with some delicious ice cream. Best whim decision ever. On Sunday I got to make a quick stop at The Shops at La Cantera on the way home. My second favorite thing about San Antonio.
A great weekend. And now let the madness of the week begin!!
Since my office doubles as the admissions office and the student affairs office, we make sure that our office is a friendly place for our students to visit. Therefore, about three times a year, we make an office candy run to Walmart and stock up on bags and bags of candy. I'm talking like 2 carts full. The "prime" candies usually last for around a month, and then everything slowly begins to disappear or taste old. These prime candy months are killer for me. I never crave candy unless I see it, so usually I am pretty good about containing my sweet tooth. However, when I see good candy in the office, I feel the need to eat a piece, and once I eat one it's like I have to eat four or five (until my stomach starts to hurt a little). Why do I have such horrible self control?!
Two weeks ago we made one of our famous candy runs, and ever since I have been obsessed with these,
I hope we will run out of all of the above very soon.
WHEW!! The HSC has been without internet/computer access since about 9:00 last Friday morning. We finally regained access at around 2:00 today. The last 4 days have made for the most boring days at work e.v.e.r. I couldn't even blog. :( Apparently, someone on the Odessa campus contracted a computer virus that ended up wiping out computers at all of our campuses throughout Texas. It was one crazy virus. I also learned that my job completely revolves around access to the internet. I was able to find enough filing and cleaning to make the first day pass, but after that I have just felt worthless. Thank goodness for the other girls up here because there is no way we all could have made it if we didn't have each other to talk to all day. It just goes to show how much our world revolves around the internet. Actually, it's pretty sad. When I sat down at my computer a little while ago and saw we had access again, my heart started racing with excitement!! Unfortunately, I am still unable to actually do any real work because several sites and drives are still down. Maybe I will be able to get caught up starting tomorrow. I will definitely be snowed under for several days because of this... but I'd rather have a lot to do than stare at a black computer screen all day. :)
Second day of June and things are already crazy. I sure do miss my blog. I knew I would have a lot on my plate this month, but I was hoping I could at least have a relaxing time at work. Not so much. Yesterday was New Student Orientation (which we are in charge of), so that was crazy as usual. Now, my desk looks like this:
I'm going to take it one piece of paper at a time.
