Gettin' Down

I was smiling so big when I saw these reception photos. I LOVE the older women who are getting their groove on. I hope I will still be rocking the dance floor when I am their age!

Looks like vintage swimwear is BACK!! I have always loved how glamorous bathing suits used to seem back in the day. They seem so feminine with their cute ruffles, polka dots & bows.

Think I should rock one of these in Antigua? I love the way they look on a flat surface, but I still haven't decided how I feel about the way that they look on the models...

Cozy Cocoon

Only ONE WEEK until I move out of my little 700 sq. feet shoebox apartment into a two bedroom duplex! I never thought I would be so excited about that. While it has been nice feeling like I'm vacationing in a spacious hotel room, I'm ready to feel like I'm actually at HOME when I'm at home.

I wish I would have discovered apartment therapy when I first moved into my apartment. I am constantly amazed at what people can do with extremely small spaces.

How cozy and awesome is this place? And this couple only had 700 sq. feet to work with!! Almost makes me wish I was going to continue living in my shoebox so I could give it a makeover. Almost.

Let's Run Away to Paradise

Ohhh my goodness, I want to live on a cliff in Iceland now. That has got to be the most gorgeous back yard I have ever seen!!!

Decisions decisions.

Mobile Goodness

It's no secret that I love cupcakes. Different groups host bake sales at the HSC (where I work) several times a month and I am usually able to find a cupcake or two at the sales to fulfill my need. Yesterday afternoon I decided to make my own cupcakes. After slaving in the kitchen for a good two hours and eating wayyy too much batter, I had myself a couple dozen pretty purple cupcakes. It will take every ounce of self-restraint to avoid eating 5 or 6 per day.

You can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon this absolutely adorable mobile cupcakery! They take their vintage RV around to all sorts of events in Southern California serving up hundreds of unique little sweet treats.
I am so extremely jealous. Talk about a dream business! Perhaps I have found my next calling?!?

Bagel-fuls.

My new obsession.

Summer, is that you?

I've been thinking a LOT about summer lately. I miss having a tan, wearing flip flops, and being able to pull off having messy hair. The temperature got up to 60 degrees in Lubbock the past couple of days which was a great teaser. I cannot wait until I can walk into the building at work every morning without my toes and fingers turning white. I have a weird disorder called Raynaud's Phenomenon that makes me have really poor circulation. My heels and toes stay white pretty much all day during the winter whether I'm inside or out... which is why I wear my Uggs more than what is probably considered to be socially acceptable.

Pretty attractive, right? I'm not sure how I ever make friends during the winter time.

Cotton Pickin' Wedding

This wedding used cotton instead of flowers! And for some reason I LOVE it!! Must be because I'm a West Texas girl. See the whole wedding here.

Always Will

40

I have never participated in Lent. It would probably be a good experience for me, but I'm afraid that I would somehow fail at it. If I were to give up the things that I TRULY do need to deny myself of, I would neverrrr make it for the whole 40 days (I know, I have a lot of faith in my abilities). So, knowing that, I would probably err on the safe side and just end up giving up something like candy or coffee... things that I don't crave that often in the first place and could easily go without. But I don't think that's the way that Lent is supposed to work.

The things that I should give up?

Yes, I did add cleaning to the list. I realize that cleaning is considered a "good" thing, so you're probably not really supposed to give something like that up. But I seriously do obsess over cleaning. I spend wayyy too much of my time at home on household chores that really don't need to be done every.single.day. Goodness knows that I would be a complete disaster and think that my life was over if I stopped cleaning for 40 whole days.

Good luck to those of you who are giving up something!

San Angelatin'

Last weekend we made a quick road trip to San Angelo to celebrate the marriage of our friends Tyler and Charlsi Bethea. It was SO great to get to see everyone! I missed our friends that weren't able to make it but hopefully we will see you all soon. I had planned on taking lots of pictures but failed miserably. Luckily I was  able to find a few extras on Facebook!
Congratulations, Tyler & Charlsi!!

The Yorkie Who Stole Valentine's Day

Ethan and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday night because we didn't feel like fighting the crowds on the actual "holiday". Before dinner, we stopped by DSW to get Ethan a new pair of shoes for a wedding reception that we were attending on Saturday night. Taking Ethan shopping is typically worse than pulling teeth, so I was happy that we made it part of our V-day date because that required him to go with a smile on his face. After that we headed to Olive Garden, which turned out to be a longer process than we had originally thought. While driving down the access road, we saw a lost little Yorkie dressed in a striped sweater. He was obviously very confused because he was running straight into traffic. For some reason I always think that it is my civil duty to drop everything and rescue lost animals if the situation arises. Since moving to Lubbock I have found several dogs, kittens, and even a rabbit. It's always a huge ordeal and often ends up taking way more time than I bargained to find the correct owner or find them a new, safe home. Buttttt I continue to do it. All of this to say that, after seeing the poor puppy, I was immediately telling Ethan to pull over the car. We raced through several car lots but couldn't locate the dog. Several minutes later Ethan spotted him standing in the middle of the street. I screamed for him to get out of the car and run to get him (while I stayed in the car covering my eyes). Ethan then spent the next 15 minutes chasing the dog but returned empty-handed and nearly suffered from a heart attack. By this time it was close to 9 so we decided to get our Olive Garden to go.

We split the Tour of Italy (my absolute favorite)...

...topped off with some Black Tie Mousse Cake.

It was heavenly.

So maybe our date didn't quite turn out like we planned. But we had fun anyway! I can only hope that someone else saved the little Yorkie's life. Hope the rest of you had a very wonderful Valentine's Day as well!

To Love or Not to Love

It seems that it's impossible to get away from Valentine's Day this time of year. The pink and red hearts are everywhere and you can't help but think your relationships or lack there-of. I've been on both sides of the spectrum. Some years I find myself completely giddy over the cuteness of the holiday and the excuse to make fun cupcakes. Other years I have been sad and bitter because everyone else I knew was out celebrating and I had to spend Valentine's Day feeling like I was the only person in the world who was alone. Pretty dramatic right? I completely believe that this is a corporate holiday that stores use to up their sales after the slow month of January. But I also believe it's a good excuse to step back and admire the people that you love (whether that be your significant other, your family, or your dearest friends) and make sure they know it. Because, while I wish that I did things like that every day, life gets crazy sometimes and I don't show my loved ones the appreciation that they deserve. I really need to work on that.

Here's a little table of Valentine's Day sweetness for anyone who needs it:

Valentine's Day Inspiration

I am a MAJOR sucker for wedding photography. I have been looking at random wedding photographers' blogs every day for years. I can hardly wait for the day when I finally get my own engagement session. We're holding out for warmer weather because I wouldn't feel like my engagement photos were complete if I didn't get to wear fun summery dresses. This morning during my daily blog-stalking I found this absolutely adorable Valentine's Day session by Vania & Christine of Simply Bloom Photography that I am in LOVE with!

The ballet shoes & the angel wings are adorable. Maybe Ethan will let us have a photo shoot next Valentine's Day. :) So much fun!

Snow? Today must be Thursday.

This is the third Thursday in a row that we have had snow in Lubbock. I think it has snowed a grand total of 5 different times this year. Since when do I live in Amarillo? I mean I like snow if it allows me to curl up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa and watch movies all day... but I definitely don't like having to get out in it and drive to work with all of the other psychotic drivers. If I MUST have to find motivation at work on snowy day, I would at least like a nice view so I can watch the pretty flakes out of a window. Unfortunately my office is completely windowless. Every couple of hours I will make my way down the hallway to the nearest window so I can gaze upon this gorgeous view:

The days of sunny weather and flip flops MUST come soon. Farewell, sweet snow, I hope that I will not see your beautiful face again until next December.
